Lesser Spotted Woodpecker

I am so happy to see a new bird in the garden, today whilst looking out at the Silver Birch tree i spotted what i thought was the Treecreeper at first glance but the pattern was different, and it was too small to be the Great Spotted Woodpecker. So I got the binoculars out and saw that we were indeed a woodpecker but a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker! so I ran outside with my camera and managed to snap some photos before he flew off:

Very exciting to have spotted two different types of woodpecker in the garden.

In other news I spotted the Water vole on the river near my house yesterday didnt have my camera with me unfortunatly.

More Treecreepers

Whilst i was out in the garden cleaning out the rabbits, i was distracted by my cat who had climbed up next door's tree and got herself stuck on the birdhouse :
She managed to get down with my help and hopefully has learned not to do this again, though i doubt it.

So now distracted from my task i spot 2 Treecreepers! also i have discovered that Blue tits do not like the Treecreepers and will chase them off the trees.
I managed to get a photo of the Treecreeper with bugs in its beak!
Whilst i was by the trees with the camera a Goldcrest flew into view! I love these birds. Also spotted a Chiff chaff in the tree and a male Chaffinch both catching bugs.

Spring

Well Spring has sprung there has been lots of activity on the bird feeders. In the last couple of months the Black Cap has returned. The Treecreeper is visiting the silver birches almost every day and 2 Goldcrests have been spotted again. Long-tailed tits are visiting the feeders frequently and dont seem bothered if i am standing 2 feet away :)

The Great tits have been seen going in and out of the bird house on the Silver birch. So exciting to see such activity in the garden.

The frogs last month were busy making frogs spawn and i spotted at least 10 frogs at one time in the pond, i know after the winter we lost a few :( so hopefully the frogs spawn will be successful and we should have some tadpoles soon!

Every spring there are 3 ducks (2 male 1 female) that sit on the houses around my house and they are back. Heres one of them:
